This website doesn’t track your visits

It’s simply a place for people to visit so that they can stay up to date with news of the Mens Shed.

It doesn’t use cookies or any kind of tracking.

The Mens Shed will record members details after they join the shed. Please keep reading to see how we handle this information.

The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (member and trustee name and contact details)
  • The date on which members were registered as a member of the organisation.

How we get the personal information and why we have it

The personal information that we process is provided to us directly by you for the following reason:

  • to hold a register of members and trustees

We use the information that you provide in order to create a register of members and register of trustees to enable us to comply as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).

If legally required to do so, we may share this information with the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases that we rely on for processing this information is:

  • we have a legal obligation as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO).

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored on a password protected spreadsheet.

We keep member and trustee contact details on the registers for 6 years as a condition of becoming an SCIO. We will then dispose your information by shredding/incinerating the application form and deleting the computer record from the spreadsheet.

The register of members must be kept for at least six years from the date on which the member ceased to be a member.

Your data protection rights

As Lowther and District Men’s Shed legally has to maintain a register of members and trustees, under data protection law, you have the following rights:

  • Your right of access

You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

  • Your right to rectification

You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

This must be undertaken within 28 days from date of request. You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have 28 days to respond to you.
